From Ibadan to the
World Stage
I am an author and advocate, Ibadan girl turned Ijebu girl, a woman who believes stories can change how we see each other. I write about the quiet struggles and stubborn hope inside ordinary lives, and through my novel Sànyà I explore the power of art, identity, and belonging. I write people and òrìshàs whole, complicated, and real. And I believe storytelling can open the door to empathy.
She studied Creative Arts at the University of Lagos, where she first encountered the Yoruba gods, Ogun, Sango, Oya, through plays and readings. That seed would lie dormant for years, waiting for its moment.
That moment came in 2017. During a social impact project, she stumbled upon Oranmiyan's story, and a question crystallised: What if Sango's story were told through a woman's eyes?
The result was Sànyà, a debut novel that won the 2025 Nigeria Prize for Literature, Africa's most prestigious literary award. Today, Oyin is a storyteller, social impact consultant, and Chief Curator of the Experience Factory, dedicated to nurturing the next generation of voices.

Sànyà
A reimagining of Yoruba mythology, the story of Sango, god of thunder, told through a woman's eyes. Dangerous love, ancient prophecy, and a war that will tear a family apart.
"A powerful and magnificent debut. Impossible to put down."— Ukamaka Olisakwe, author of Ogadinma
